Honoring Indigenous People and Greatest Contribution

October was declared as the month of indigenous people in the Philippines. This month is very important as we celebrate the 27th anniversary of the Indigenous People Rights Acts, also known as IPRA. It is a law the promotes the rights of an IP, as well as informing the significance of preserving our rich histories and traditions.

This is our moment to give a recognition about the beauty of their culture and how they promote it. During those times, many people held various of activities as a form of celebrating. This includes the cultural performances, their cultural languages, art exhibition, rituals, and many more. These events and activities,  many people were able to understand and learn more about their culture. It can make non-indigenous people appreciate and support to them.

National Indigenous People's Month is not just a month to celebrate but to advocate about their need for unity among all Filipinos. This also aims to protect every right of Indigenous people. We should be grateful that until now, they are still preserving their cultures and ancestral lands, even if we are in the modernized era. They contributed to making the Philippines recognized by non-locals. Our historical features were attracting tourists to visit our land, and it's all thanks to the Indigenous People.
